Fourth Notification of Major Events
to International Students
during the Pandemic of COVID-2019
By 24:00 on March 17th , 2020, a total of 81, 135 novel corona-virus pneumonia cases had been confirmed in China, 68, 820 cases had been cured, 3, 231 cases had died, and 9, 084 confirmed cases had been under the treatment. Today, 39 new cases were confirmed in China, including 20 cases imported from abroad. Wuhan has no new cases for 12 consecutive days. Of the 337 cities where the confirmed cases have been distributed, 280 cities have achieved "zero" cases. However, even as the novel corona-virus pneumonia pandemic is basically under control in China, it is spreading rapidly around the international community. By 24:00 on March 17th , 2020, a total of 104,953 novel corona-virus pneumonia cases had been confirmed outside China, with a total of 4,213 death and 89,582 confirmed cases under the treatment, and 47 new cases have been confirmed in Pakistan. At present, the global prevention and control of pandemic is still very severe.
In view of this, we once again make a written notice on the important policies and measures for the prevention and control of the pandemic. Please be sure to comply with the notice.
I. International students are not allowed to return to the university earlier without a formal notice on the beginning of the new semester; once receiving the official notice of the beginning of the new semester, international students have to return to the university on time. Students who return to the university earlier without permission would face the following huge risks.
a. Risk of infection during long international travel;
b. Risk of being infected or identified as a close contact and quarantined according to regulations;
c. Risk of high medical treatment and accommodation costs once infected or quarantined;
d. Risk of taking legal liability once violating the pandemic prevention and control regulations and resulting in undesirable consequences.
II. There is extreme uncertainty about when the university will begin the new semester considering the huge risk of global pandemic. In order to successfully complete the teaching tasks of the new semester, the current network teaching is likely to continue for a long time. Therefore, international students should actively create the network learning conditions, complete the network learning tasks on time, feedback homework and learning process timely. Students should keep homework, study notes and other learning materials, which should be submitted to the foreign affairs office after the university begins the new semester formally.
III. According to the regulations of MOE of China, HSK-4 is for international students enrollment and HSK-5 is for international students graduation. And according to the university's Chinese language teaching plan and actual teaching process, international students of 2018 Grade should pass HSK-4 before July, 2020 and HSK-5 before July, 2023; international students of 2017 Grade should pass HSK-4 by July, 2020 and HSK-5 by July, 2022. The university will issue an academic warning to international students who fail to pass HSK-4 as scheduled. International students who fail to pass HSK-4 as scheduled can either drop out of the university or attend an 1-semester paid remedial HSK-4 course. Those who still fail to pass HSK-4 after the remedial HSK-4 course shall be expelled from the university. The university will organize international students to register for the HSK-4 examination after the new semester begins. Therefore, please take more time to prepare for HSK-4 examination.
IV. After the new semester officially begins, the university may occupy the Saturday or the summer vacation to make up for the class hours delayed by the pandemic. Please give full understanding and active cooperation.
V. International students should also pay close attention to all kinds of notices, learning tasks and course PPT published in We Chat group. The university does not accept any refusal to carry out the university's requirements or to complete learning tasks on the grounds of "not seeing the notice", "not knowing" or "bad network".
